Practicing a variety of asanas (yoga postures) will strengthen your body and build muscle. When you have more muscle tissue, your metabolism increases. Men have an easier time losing weight than woman, because men usually have more muscle tissue.
Yoga relaxes the body. Stress can increase cortisol hormone levels. Chronically high levels of cortisol makes losing weight more difficult. Yoga helps stress eaters control both stress and eating habits.
Yoga makes people feel more connected to their bodies. When we feel more connected to our bodies, we nourish ourselves with healthy foods and avoid foods that harm us.
