Llamas & Coyotes

Llamas are good at keeping coyotes away from livestock. An angry llama will spit, sound an alarm, and charge a canine intruder. Llamas can kick hard enough to kill a coyote.

Llamas were domesticated over 5,000 years ago in Peru. Llamas have been used for wool, meat, and as pack animals.

Now, llamas are guarding livestock. In the United States, ranchers report that llamas are successfully keeping coyotes away from their livestock.

The llama is a cuddly looking animal and is kept as a pet by some people.
